Investment Outlook: corporate bonds emerge as safer choice

Corporate bonds issued by solid companies are emerging as the safer choice for investors in today’s turbulent market. “In some cases it is better to own corporate bonds issued by companies with stable sales than government bonds issued by countries with weak tax bases and rising expenditures,” SEB’s analysts state in the December Investment Outlook. Hans Peterson, global head of Investment Strategy within SEB’s Private Banking business, discusses investment options in this short video (4:25).

SEB denies legal claim from hedge fund

There is a lot of media attention that a hedge fund based in the Virgin Islands has issued a lawsuit against SEB for 200 million euro. SEB denies all the claims. According to The Times newspaper, which published the information, the hedge fund claims SEB waited too long to close the fund's option position during the financial crisis.

SEB clears investments in cluster bomb manufacturers

SEB will not invest in companies producing antipersonnel mines and cluster bombs. A process to go through all the investments and sell affected holdings has started. “This will be finished by the end of the year,” says Tove Bångstad, head of SEB Fonder.
