During 2009, SEB developed a new strategy for corporate sustainability, set out to significantly reduce its carbon emissions and decided to immediately compensate fully for the remaining emissions. Read about this and more in the Corporate Sustainability report for 2009.

Here are some highlights from the report:

  • SEB launched a CO2 emissions reductions project; “Carbon Chasing
at SEB” to reduce emissions by 45 per cent until 2015.
  • The World Bank made two additional green bond issues with SEB as sole lead manager, as well as augmented its initial offering on two occasions. A fourth issue, in early 2010, meant the total amount raised now exceeds one billion dollars.
  • SEB sold off all investments in arms and weapons manufacturers governed by international convention and established a PRI Council, to manage its ownership role going forward.
  • SEB participated in a Swedish banking coalition against child pornography.
