Expo 2010 Shanghai. Sweden’s participation at the Expo is a joint partnership between the Swedish government and the business community, with SEB as one of the official partners. From 1 May to 31 October 2010, more than 228 countries and international organizations, thousands of companies and more than 70 million people are expected to descend on Shanghai.

The theme of Expo 2010 Shanghai is “Better City, Better Life”, and signifies the city's new status as a major economic and cultural center. Sweden’s theme is “Spirit of Innovation.” Visitors will have a chance to meet one of the most innovative nations in the world, to learn how Sweden became the small country with the big brands and to be a part of Sweden’s challenges and learn about its solutions.

“SEB is and has historically been a facilitator for the ambitions and strategies of Swedish business and as an important institution within the Swedish business community we think this is a great opportunity” says Hanse Ringström, Senior Banker and in charge of SEB Merchant Banking's business in Asia.

Sweden’s main target group is the Chinese business community, as well as the young urban society (18-40) and the general public.

The Swedish pavilion at Expo 2010 will contain the Swedish exhibition, VIP areas and other facilities. The 3,000 square meter building will be located in the European section alongside the other Nordic countries. SEB will have exclusive rights to use the VIP-area of the Swedish pavilion during a number of days. Exclusive seminars will be organized e.g. “China’s Challenge” on May 31 and “Investment opportunities in the Nordic Region” June 30. During this period, SEB will host customers, authorities and other important stakeholders.
