SEB's Chief Executive Annika Falkengren accepts prize for best business bank

Eastbrook Information Lab, in its annual Finansbarometern survey, named SEB best bank for businesses (Årets affärsbank) in Sweden in 2010. In the survey, the largest of its kind, around 1,000 companies in Sweden with annual revenue of at least 250 million Swedish kronor (27 million euro) have provided judgement on several aspects of their banking relationships.

SEB this year won the survey for the first time since its inception in 2003, and the bank has come back remarkably from last place in the 2009 survey.

“We have always been the leading relationship bank for large corporations. I’m very pleased that we now get confirmation that this applies also a wider range of business customers. It’s in line with our ambition to strengthen our relations and grow across the entire business banking sector in Sweden,” says Annika Falkengren.

SEB usually takes care of customers in Sweden with annual revenue below 500 million kronor in the Retail Banking unit, while the bank’s relations with larger customers lie with Merchant Banking. The survey thus covers customers in both categories.

Mats TorstendahlMats Torstendahl, head of the Swedish Retail Banking business, underlines that the success in this year’s survey is the result of well-performed teamwork.

“It’s all our talented employees that must be recognized. This is the result of hard and dedicated work to always be there for our customers. We have improved and extended our services, and most importantly we have increased efforts to be more proactive in our customer contacts,” says Torstendahl.
