For the second year in a row SEB Lithuania was recognised as the most active member on the Baltic stock exchanges and the one that has made the largest contribution towards market development in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. SEB Lithuania received the award from exchange operator Nasdaq OMX.

Nasdaq OMX assessed the potential candidates in terms of their equity and bond trade turnover, the number of executed transactions and the level of activity in trade online. Other criteria were also highly important: initiative in market improvement efforts, new financial instruments developed and offered to investors. The number of trade infringements, if any, was also taken into account.

For the second consecutive year SEB Lithuania has been able to implement its objective to become the best financial brokerage service company in the Baltic States – SEB Lithuania set this objective a few years ago. However, to achieve it also this year took much more effort.

“Due to economic deceleration we entirely changed our sales strategy, trying to get an insight of what is relevant under changed market conditions, to make our services as safe as possible, offering risk-free financial instruments to our customers. What matters is that with a conservative investment strategy we could offer our customers the most useful proposals, win investors’ trust, meet their expectations and achieve the best results,” commented Virgilijus Mirkės, head of Equity Sales in Lithuania.

Nasdaq OMX issues Baltic stock market awards every year. Candidates to the awards include banks, financial brokerage companies and companies whose shares are traded on the stock exchange.
